Everything you need to know about Dress Rehearsals
Will my students be able to understand what is happening if they don’t speak the language the opera is performed in?
Yes, all operas are performed with easy-to-read English supertitles projected above the stage, even for operas performed in English.
How long will the dress rehearsal take?
Dress rehearsals last from two to three hours.
How much will it cost for my group? Do adult chaperones have to pay as well?
Tickets are $7 per student and $15 per adult. One chaperone may attend free of charge for every 15 students. There must be at least 15 students for each chaperone admitted free.
Do we need to pre-register to see a dress rehearsal? Is there a deadline?
All school groups are required to pre-register for dress rehearsals. All mailed, e-mailed, or faxed registrations must be received in our administrative office with payment no later than one week before the dress rehearsal. Please pay with a single check or credit card charge when registering. Click to print the dress rehearsal registration form (Adobe Acrobat required), or register securely online.
Are there any other ways to pre-register for a dress rehearsal? Can I add more students to our group after registering?
Yes, teachers may register a new group or add to a group already registered by arranging to come to our office in person by the Friday before the dress rehearsal for the opera, or two days after each of the above mail-in deadlines. After that Friday, registration will be closed and no one else may be added. Contact us to make an in-person registration appointment.
We missed the pre-registration deadlines. Is there any way we can pay at the door?
No, we are not able to admit anyone arriving at Clowes Memorial Hall on the night of the dress rehearsal who is not pre-registered. There will be no money collected at the event.
