Indianapolis Opera trains the future stars of opera

Indianapolis Opera's resident company, the Indianapolis Opera Ensemble, consists of four young professional singers and a coach/accompanist who are selected each year through national auditions.
During their residency (in the current season, January to May), the Ensemble artists perform a variety of programs throughout Indiana and neighboring states. They also participate in regular coaching with IO's artistic director, acting and stage combat sessions, master classes with visiting main stage artists, and a professional development series designed to prepare them for careers in opera. Ensemble singers may be engaged for secondary main stage roles, and are encouraged to understudy leading roles appropriate for their voices.
