Hoffmann has never been lucky in love. He is entranced by the doll Olympia, seduced by the courtesan Giulietta, obsessed by the fragile singer Antonia, and when he meets Stella, she holds the promise of all three women rolled into one. Is Hoffmann a victim of his own imagination or a helpless pawn in love’s cruel hands?
