Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird and his wife, Dinah will once again serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of Lobsterpalooza. Lobsterpalooza, Indianapolis Opera’s signature fundraiser, is to be held on Saturday, August 9 at the Basile Opera Center in Indianapolis. Larry and Dinah, who served as co-chairs of the popular event in 2013, say they are pleased to co-chair Lobsterpalooza due to their strong belief in supporting the local arts. The couple has lived in Indianapolis since their move in 1997, when Larry became the Pacers’ head coach. Larry was named president of basketball operations in 2003 and remained in the role until 2012. After a year off, he returned to the position.
The fifth annual Lobsterpalooza is a casual, exciting evening of entertainment, live music and a traditional Maine lobster boil. Succulent Maine lobster will be served with award-winning clam chowder, steamed clams, fresh vegetables and corn of the cob. The fresh Maine lobster, brought in live the night before, is so sweet and tender it practically melts in your mouth (chicken dishes available).
The event will take place rain or shine. Lobsterpalooza 2013 was sold out and raised nearly $50,000 for Indianapolis Opera. All proceeds benefit Indianapolis Opera’s education programs. Tickets are available at www.indyopera.org.
