Community leader and arts patron Yvonne Shaheen received the newly-renamed Kathyrn Taurel Woman of the Awards Award, given for her outstanding involvement with the Central Indiana arts community.
“I was excited to be honored by [Indianapolis Opera],” Mrs. Shaheen said. “I love and support the Arts so deeply and simply feel it has the power to elicit great passion and emotion through the creative telling and retelling of the many stories of our lives.”
Event proceeds will support the Opera’s young artist development program, the Indianapolis Opera Ensemble, which delivers operatic experiences to audiences in schools, community centers, libraries, and other venues throughout the state. These young artists also rehearse and study with guest artists and professional mentors, helping them to prepare for successful careers.
