Christopher Burchett | Germont

Christopher Burchett, whom Opera News has described as a “fearlessly vulnerable performer“ and “an intense, committed actor with a focused, resonant baritone”, has appeared with companies both in the U.S. and abroad such as Santa Fe Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Estates Theatre in Prague, The Barbican with the BBC Orchestra, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, Palm Beach Opera, New York City Opera, Beth Morrison Projects, Opera Orchestra of New York, Virginia Opera, Opera Omaha, Kentucky Opera, Glimmerglass Opera Festival and Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Last spring, he performed the Governor in Indianapolis Opera’s Man of La Mancha, the Priest and Angel of the Agony in Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with The Orchestra Now and Carmina Burana and Creon in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex with The Washington Chorus at the Kennedy Center.  In the summer, he performed Larry Foreman in The Cradle Will Rock and Sander in Zemire et Azor with Opera Saratoga. This fall Christopher travels to London to record Arnold Rosner’s The Parable of the Law with the London Philharmonic for Toccata Classics, and sings Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with Fargo-Moorhead Opera. In 2018, he performs the role of John Cree in Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s Elizabeth Cree, sings Macheath in The Threepenny Opera with Boston Lyric Opera and returns to Fargo-Moorhead Opera to perform David T. Little’s Soldier Songs. He can be heard on the Naxos, VIA, Cantaloupe and Albany record labels.
