As part of Indiana’s bicentennial celebration, Indianapolis Opera is honored to be presenting the world premiere of Happy Birthday Wanda June, based on Kurt Vonnegut’s play of the same name. The opera was composed by Richard Auldon Clark, in collaboration with Mr. Vonnegut, who wrote the libretto.
High school and college/university groups are invited to attend the final dress rehearsal for Happy Birthday, Wanda June in the Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts on the Butler University campus. The dress rehearsal will be performed with orchestra, costumes, sets, and lighting. It will begin at 7 PM and is expected to last approximately two and a half hours, including one 20-minute intermission.
Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. Seating in the Schrott is limited, and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Study materials will be provided to registered groups.
All mailed or emailed registrations must be received in the Indianapolis Opera office no later than September 7, a week before the dress rehearsal.
Teachers may register a new group or add to a group already registered by arranging to come to the Opera office in person by September 9, the Friday before the dress rehearsal for the opera. After that Friday, registration will be closed and no one else may be added. Anyone arriving at the Schrott on the night of the dress rehearsal who is not pre-registered cannot be admitted.
