Company Auditions*: West Side Story Ensemble Roles
*preference will be given to Indiana residents
Audition Date: September 21, 2024
Application Deadline: Thursday, September 12, 2024
Consideration for auditions will begin as soon as completed applications are received, so it is to your advantage to apply sooner rather than later. If granted an audition, you will be notified no later than Monday, September 16, 2024.
Auditionees, please note:
1) Vocal Auditions will take place between 10 AM – 2 PM
2) Dance/Movement Auditions will take place between 2 PM – 4 PM.
3) Auditionees must participate in both singing and dance portions to be considered for West Side Story ensemble roles.
4) For the vocal audition, men and women will each prepare at least one excerpt from the show, linked below. You may opt to sing all of the excerpts for men or for women, but you must choose one.
5) The dance portion of the audition will be conducted by our choreographer in a group setting. You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing for this portion of the day.
6) Each auditionee will be assigned a time for their vocal audition and dance audition.
7) A pianist is provided.

- There is no fee to apply for an audition.
- A pianist will be provided for the auditions. Please do not bring your own pianist.
- Your application packet must include:
- Completed application form
- Cover Letter addressed to: David Craig Starkey, General Director
- Performance Resume with color or black-and-white headshot (on the resume)
- Artist Biography
- Please do not send any supporting materials beyond those specified above. We will begin filling audition slots upon receipt of applications, so it is to your advantage to mail them sooner.

- On the day of the audition please enter the Basile Opera Center through the entrance to the North side of the building, all other entrances will not be accessible by visiting singers.
- Free onsite parking is open to all applicants during their audition period.
- The auditions will take place in the Reilly Hall rehearsal room.
- Please arrive 15-30 minutes ahead of your scheduled time slot.
- There will be warm-up rooms with pianos, as well as water and changing rooms available for your use.
- Audition Repertoire should be selected from the excerpts provided.
- Applicants will be performing for a panel consisting of IO General Director David Craig Starkey, Principal Conductor Alfred Savia, Education & Community Engagement Director Lyndsay Moy, Resident Assistant Director Jessica Burton, and other artistic staff.
- Upon completing their audition, singers will receive direct feedback.
