Indianapolis Opera is proud to be the home of the vocal studio of internationally acclaimed soprano Angela Brown.
Ms. Brown has graced the leading opera and symphonic stages across six continents. A featured artist on the two-time Grammy Award® winning recording “Ask Your Mama,” Ms. Brown's artistry has inspired composers to write opera roles and symphonic works especially for her. Ms. Brown has a personal mission to be a positive role model and influence for future singing actors by sharing her experience and expertise in vocal technique, languages, performance development, and entrepreneurship. To that end, she founded Morning Brown, Inc., a nonprofit organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including teaching, coaching, and mentoring the next generation of opera singers as well as other musical outreach endeavors to bridge the gap between live performance and underserved audiences.

Ms. Brown is a noted interpreter of traditional opera roles, contemporary works, musical theater, spirituals, and a wide range of musical styles. She is in demand for master classes around the country as well as performance and teaching residencies at universities and performing arts institutions. Some of these include Stanford University, Morgan State University, University of North Carolina, Charlotte, Spelman College, Oakwood University,  Oberlin University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Georgia State University Harrower Opera Program,  Mercer University, Illinois Central College, Cheney University, Delaware State University, Morgan State University, University of Hawaii, Austin Peay State University, Skidmore College, University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, and more.
