Our newly launched Contemporary Workshop Series will feature the comic one-act opera Gallantry and the Midwest premiere of Veteran Journeys, a new opera by composer and psychiatrist Dr. Kenneth Wells. This intimate comical and poignant operatic experience will feature our 2022-2023 Resident Artists.  Written by 20th century composer Douglas Moore, Gallantry mimics a soap opera of 1950s television, featuring hilarious hijinks, suspense, and a love triangle between a surgeon, his anesthetist, and their patient. Following Gallantry, we’ll move from a farcical world of fictional medicine to the very real one, as we explore the stories of two Vietnam veterans and their caregivers in the new and thought-provoking Veteran Journeys.  Join us for an exciting and singular exploration of these diverse contemporary works.
