AUDITION DAY:
On the day of the audition please enter the Basile Opera Center through the North side of the building; all other entrances will not be accessible by visiting singers to the Opera Center. There will be signs directing you where to enter and exit (to keep applicants at a safe social-distance).
Onsite parking is open to all applicants free of charge.
The auditions will take place in the Reilly Hall rehearsal room. There will be warm up rooms with pianos, water, and changing rooms available for you.
Please arrive 15-30 minutes ahead of your scheduled time slot. Upon arriving artists will be expected to submit a handwritten audition repertoire list for use by the panel during the audition.
Principal and Resident Artist audition repertoire should consist of 5 selections from Core Operatic Repertoire and Classical-Lyric Theatre Literature.
Applicants will be performing for a panel consisting of IO General Director David Craig Starkey, Principal Guest Conductor Alfred Savia, Education & Community Engagement Coordinator Lyndsay Moy, and other artistic staff.
Upon completing their performance, singers will receive direct feedback from the panel regarding their audition.
This application does not guarantee an audition, however applicants will be notified of their status regardless of the decision to grant an audition. If an artist is granted an audition slot but is unable to attend on any of the scheduled audition days, the non-refundable fee can secure consideration of their application for the subsequent audition session.
There are a limited number of time slots available during each session, so it is advantageous to submit materials early. Auditions are based on availability and casting needs for upcoming productions.
