The Indianapolis Opera brings you Puccini’s Tosca, featuring world-renowned and Indianapolis-born soprano Angela Brown, who leads a cast of highly acclaimed artists at the Tarkington Theater this November.

Amid the chaos of the French Revolutionary Wars, Floria Tosca, the great soprano of her time, finds herself and her lover in the crosshairs of Scarpia, the chief of police, in 1800 Rome. Tosca is in love with rebellious painter extraordinaire Cavaradossi (performed by Metropolitan Opera tenor Gregory Turay), but the tyrant Scarpia (last season’s Commendatore in
Don Giovanni, Andrew Potter) becomes obsessed with ruining the pair of lovers during a political investigation. Bear witness as their passionate love is threatened by dramatic forces beyond their control, illustrated through sweeping music and romantic orchestration. In this historic production, Indianapolis Opera proudly presents Angela Brown’s first hometown performance of Tosca.
